
Charity "Race Night" for fans of Milton Keynes Dons

The MK Dons Supporters Association is pleased to announce that the first "social event" of 2012 will be a CHARITY RACE NIGHT to raise money for the national charity MacIntyre and the MK Dons Sports and Education Trust. The event will take place on THURSDAY MARCH 15TH in the Red Dot Bar at Stadium MK, with doors opening at 7pm and the first race taking place at 7.45pm. Entry is open to anyone and is not restricted to members of the MKDSA. The success of events such as these is dependent on fans turning out. We encourage anyone reading this article to consider coming along and supporting the work of the MKDSA in raising money for such worthwhile causes, whilst having fun along the way. THE WORK OF MACINTYRE
Established in 1966 by Kenneth Newton Wright, the parent of a disabled child, MacIntyre has grown to become a leading national charity, highly respected and committed to setting standards and increasing choice. They provide learning, support and care for children and adults with learning disabilities, at more than 120 MacIntyre services across the UK including Milton Keynes. Their diverse range of services includes registered care homes, supported living schemes, accredited training schemes and lifelong learning services, as well as residential special schools and a further education college.
MK DONS SPORTS AND EDUCATION TRUST
The MK Dons Sports and Education Trust was established in 2004 and is a registered charity delivering sessions and services to children, young people and adults throughout four counties along the themes of Health, Education, Inclusion and Sport Participation. The stated aims of the Trust are to advance education, to assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupations, to promote community participation in healthy recreation, to relieve sickness and disability and to preserve and protect health.

On 23rd October 2003, thirty fans met at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes to establish a new supporters association following the arrival of Wimbledon Football Club (now renamed Milton Keynes Dons FC), from their former home at Selhurst Park in South London. A number of people volunteered to undertake roles as part of a steering committee to lead the association during its formation stages.
