
2011: The year that was... at the MKDSA

The question is asked from time to time.. what exactly does the MKDSA do? Well as we come to the end of 2011 and prepare for another year, we look back at all the events and activities that the association has been involved in. From Quiz Nights to Fans Forums, it has been a busy time for the committee as they strive to support the fans and represent their views to the club.
10th January 2011 - Quiz NightThe first MKDSA Quiz Night of the year saw Team Ross taking the honours for the fourth time in a row. The club provided complimentary match tickets for the winners
24th January 2011 - Sponsorship DealMKDSA partner organisation JUST TYRES kindly provided the association with four logo'd jackets to assist in committee member identification on match days.
8th February 2011 - Fans ForumIt was the Fans Forum that occupied the Supporters Association in early February as Pete Winkelman, Karl Robinson and some of the players fielded questions from the fans
Next up the MKDSA attempted to arrange a curry night at the Cafe Balti in Wolverton. The committee negotiated a special rate for members of the association.
7th March 2011 - Quiz NightAnother Quiz Night in March saw new winners at the Red Dot Bar in the form of "Rose Between Two Thorns" made up of John Samuel, Sarah G and her mother.
26th March 2011 - MKDSA FC v West HamMeanwhile the MKDSA FC continued to play regularly against fans of other clubs in the supporters league. West Ham Supporters were the visitors for todays match.
14th April 2011 - Ability Counts ForumThe SA supported a special forum for disabled fans held in support of Ability Counts Week at Stadium MK. The event highlighted opportunities for the disabled to get involved in football.
The MKDSA announced it was sponsering the Soccer Sight System which provides audio coverage by the MK Hospital Radio commentators to visually impaired fans after it was threatened with closure.
Another night at the Curry House was the next event laid on for members with another special discount arranged with the Cafe Balti.
The end of season awards ceremony at Stadium MK saw two awards sponsered by the MKDSA. The Disability Player of the Year was Ben Smeaton and the Player of the Year was Stephen Gleeson.
26th May 2011 - MKDSA FC win Tony Marriott CupA special match for the MKDSA against Barclays Bank at Stadium MK saw the supporters win 5-1. The match was held to raise money for the MK Dons Sports and Education Trust.
17th June 2011 - Affiliate Member AnnouncedAt their June Meeting the Committee voted to award Keens Shay Keens affiliate membership of the MKDSA after independently auditing the finances of the MKDSA as a community intitiative.
3rd July 2011 - MKDSA AGMThe MKDSA announced to a packed Red Dot Bar at Stadium MK that it was launching a season long fund raising effort to raise funds for the academy to obtain items on their much needed `wants` list.
Next up for the social events was a Race Night to be held at Stadium MK. This was arranged in order to raise funds for the MK Dons Acadamy.
September saw the next Quiz Night arranged by the MKDSA with teams arranged from Thames Valley Police, Asda, MK Dons FC and SET. MK Ambulance Service were the winners.
15th October 2011 - Game Discount AnnouncedThe MKDSA negotiated a 10% dicount for members and MK Dons FC Season Ticket holders for any new games from GAME, Crown Walk, Centre MK as well as discounts on new Consoles
A very special knock out FIFA 12 competition was organised by the SA at the Red Dot Bar and saw players, fans and associates all competing in this popular event.
November 2011 - Players Sponsers EveningA competition was run offering two tickets to the Players Sponsers Evening at Stadium MK. The MKDSA sponsor Dons captain Dean Lewington and the winner was Paul Deering
4th December 2011 - New Partner AnnouncedSMK Transport became the latest partner of the MKDSA offering SA members a discount on their services and providing a large MKDSA logo'd banner for the association to use at events.
23rd December 2011 - MKDSA FC Charity MatchTo close the year the MKDSA FC took on an MK Media Tarts side in a festive match arranged to raise funds and toys for the childrens ward at MK Hospital.

On 23rd October 2003, thirty fans met at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes to establish a new supporters association following the arrival of Wimbledon Football Club (now renamed Milton Keynes Dons FC), from their former home at Selhurst Park in South London. A number of people volunteered to undertake roles as part of a steering committee to lead the association during its formation stages. In May 2004, the first full Annual General Meeting was held and Officers were elected by it's members
