Match Preview: MK Dons v Sheffield Wednesday - Updated
Created on Monday, 30 January 2012
PLAYER NEWS Matthias Doumbe is suspended and will miss the match, whilst Darren Potter is a doubt because of illness. Spurs have recalled right back Adam Smith at the 11th hour leaving the Dons with a defensive crisis, however Adam Chicksen has returned from a loan spell at Leyton Orient and may fill that role. Alan Smith has arrived from Newcastle United and took part in a full training session on Monday morning, meanwhile Karl Robinson has indicated he wants to sign more players before the transfer window closes.
Former Dons loanee Clinton Morrison played for Wednesday in the FA Cup at the weekend but looks set to return to the bench for Tuesday's match, with Gary Madine and Chris O'Grady tipped to lead the attack. However another former Dons player, Miguel Angel Llera is likely to start in defence as the Owls continue to suffer with injuries to Rob Jones, Daniel Jones and Julian Bennett. We understand that Reda Johnson has now recovered from a training ground injury and will be available for selection. New loan signing from Spurs, John Bostock is also likely to feature in the midfield at some point during the match.
FORM GUIDE
Since 2004 MK Dons have played Sheffield Wednesday five times and are yet to win a match, although they have drawn three times. The Dons have only lost one of their last six home matches which was the 1-0 defeat to Preston. That being said, they've only played one league match at home in the last five weeks. Wednesday's recent record on the road is impressive with them winning four of their last six away matches. In their last six league matches the Dons have won two, drawn two and lost two scoring 10 but conceeding 8 goals. Wednesday have won three, drawn one and lost two scoring 10 but conceeding 7 goals. The recent form of both clubs appears to be more even than the pundits would suggest.
