MKDSA FC lose to Preston in nine goal thriller
Created on Monday, 19 December 2011
Match Report by Colin Berry (MKDSA Community Football Officer)On Saturday 17th December the MK Dons Supporters Association FC met Preston North End in an IFA League Fixture at Leon School in Milton Keynes. Going into the game Preston had scored 57 goals in 10 games and were 2nd in the table!! Whichever way you look at it this game was going to have goals!!
Preston arrived with 10 players so in the true IFA spirit we loaned them one of our players. James Fowler had made an appearance for the side this year, so he stepped up and played for Preston.
MKDSA took a surprise lead through Chris Patrickson with a calm finish. With chances at both ends MKDSA made it 2-0 with a great finish. However Preston started to get back into the game and made it 2-1 with James Fowler beating Matt Barnes at the near post from a corner. It soon became 2-2 and Preston were starting to take charge.
MKDSA got back into the game and took the lead from a great goal from Tom Parker (also known as Ryan by Bobby Marsh!!!) Well I said this game had goals but didn't think it would go this well when MKDSA made it 4-2 through Bobby March when he beat the on rushing keeper to head home.
Half Time 4-2
The second half started in the same manner but it was Preston who got the goal, and what a goal it was. The Preston winger cut inside to hit a sweet left foot past the outstretched me!! Then Preston continued to pile on the pressure and made it 4-4.
I think a draw would have been the best result even after a great double save by myself! But as in a previous game where we had loaned a player out it was again going to haunt us!! A great cross from the Preston winger found James Fowler at the far post who hit a superb left foot volley into the net to make the final score 5-4.
MKDSA FC played the best football I have seen us play this year. Below are pictures of both sets of teams and action from the match itself. News of a special match this Friday will follow tomorrow
